Sheffield residents, Public Works completed an entire town Flushing of Hydrants last week. We anticipate this additional flush will resolve the discolored water issues. We also received a statement from our Water Operator Joe Glynn – he explained the August 2024 water treatment plant updates included total filter rehab, installation of new valves, automated backwash, & switching of the oxidizing chemical. During the upgrade we were operating off of one filter instead of two and backwashing several times a day, resulting in excess iron accumulation in the distribution system. Recently we saw excess iron breaking free and causing discoloration in some areas. Again, our water operator anticipates the additional flush took care of the discoloration.
