At long last, the Main Street project is complete and I hope everyone is enjoying the new sidewalks and the handicap accessible entrances to all the Main Street businesses. The street looks very festive and ready for the holidays, with each light pole wrapped in lights and the Christmas tree up and decorated. I have had many positive comments from our residents and also from folks living in neighboring communities regarding how nice the street looks. It truly is a great “first impression” to anyone visiting. Thanks to our town crew for the great job they did with the holiday decorating!
Snow removal will look a little different this year, as no snow will be piled on either end of Main Street. It may take a bit longer, as the crew is getting used to the new layout, so we are asking folks to be patient. We have a plan in place and our crew is readying equipment for our first snowfall. As you know, there is no parking on Main Street after 2” of snow, so please be aware that violators can be towed if not mindful of that long standing rule.
While we are speaking of the winter months, please also remember that, in the case of a power outage, the Community Center will serve as a warming center. Please contact me (815) 866-5547 in the event that you are without power and need a place to keep warm.
Also, while we are quickly approaching the Christmas holiday, please remember to shop locally for your Christmas needs. We are very fortunate to have so many small businesses ready to supply you with your holiday gifts, food preparation, holiday parties, etc. Let’s all remember to support our local businesses first this holiday season and always.
On behalf of the Village employees and the Village trustees and myself, I’d like to wish everyone in Sheffield a very Merry Christmas and all good things ahead in the New Year!
